Single Side vs Double Side PVC Coated Fabric: Which Do You Need?
How coated fabric is built
Every PVC coated fabric starts with a base fabric, usually polyester for strength. PVC compound is spread onto the fabric and fused with heat. With single side coating, this happens on one face. With double side coating, both faces are coated, which seals the yarns completely.

When to choose single side
Choose single side fabric when the product needs a waterproof outer face but must stay light and easy to sew: bag linings, machine and vehicle dust covers, rainwear and banners. The fabric back also gives better grip and a softer feel.
When to choose double side
Choose double side fabric when water or weather will reach both faces, or when the product must last outdoors for a long time: truck covers, tarpaulins, tents, shelters, industrial curtains and water containment. Wicking through exposed fabric yarns is avoided because the yarns are sealed on both sides.
